After a long summer the season is finally here, I hope you are all rested and raring to go!

It’s been a very busy off season for those working behind the scenes making sure we are ready to go, the wonderful long sunny and dry period has given the pitches a very hard time but after some early seeding/fertilising they are starting to recover well.

I would like to thank Jerome Vidgen and Graeme Balmer for their work over this period to give us an excellent playing surface despite the set backs.

Players from the Seniors and Mini & Juniors spent a weekend in June tidying, cleaning and repairing to help get the club ready for the new season during the NatWest weekend, this was a fantastic effort by everyone and thanks to all for putting in their time and effort we achieved all we set out to do including lowering , painting and re installing the goal posts.

Special thanks here go to Dave Reeves for tirelessly coordinating all this work and James Kay from Keith Rhodes Machinery Installations for the loan of the crane!

We also had some sport going on – Touch Rugby, U17 7’s tournament, our seniors took part in the Cainscross RFC 7’s coming out winners!!!

Pre-season has gone well under new coaches Jake McMahon and Gavin Worrall, they have both settled in to their new roles very quickly and we look forward to game time – good luck for the coming season.

So, are we ready to go?

We will soon find out, I feel there is a good buzz and feel going around the club with some new players and other players looking in good early season form I am quietly optimistic, as every Chairman is on beginning a new season!!!

Seniors and Mini & Juniors begin this weekend and have a long season ahead. I wish you all a successful season full of great playing memories and off field enjoyment.

Just to finish up can I thank everyone who has volunteered or contributed to the continued success of the club during the off-season, it is very much appreciated and anyone who would like to help just see Dave Reeves or myself.

Here’s to season 2018/9
