18th February 1990 saw the inaugural use of the OCRFC floodlights, when a Doug Perks XV took on a Gloucestershire XV at The Memorial Ground.

The following 25 years have seen a variety of different teams play under the lights, as well as Old Cryptians.

A Floodlit Cup for combination 2nd XVs was run in the early 2000s and most recently, the University of Gloucestershire All Golds Rugby League side played their BUCS home games there in the 2014 season.

The floodlights have even shone on an international match of sorts, when the West Indies Rugby Union XV played the Gloucester Combination on 7th November 2000 - at the time on their first tour of Britain in over 20 years. Old Cryptians were represented that day by Captain Nik Cooper, who turned out and scored for the Combination.

This year the lights have been upgraded with the help of a grant from the RFU and Old Cryptians RFC continue to look for opportunities to use them outside of their own playing and training requirements as a revenue generator.
