Old Cryptians continued their 23/24 campaign with a long trip down to Swindon College Old Boys RFC. The side remained fairly unchanged from our last game against Bredon, however Ryan Hooper returned to start on the wing. After a slow start and some strong defence from Cryptians, Seb Whitelock picked from the scrum and dotted down by the posts, scoring the first points of the game. Conversion from Tom Loomes gave us a 7-0 lead. However SCOB, hit back with a try to make the score 7-5. The teams then traded tries, with Callum McFadden diving over the line to make the half time score 14-12. Cryptians were under a lot of pressure at the start of the second half, but coped well thanks to defensive work by Cohen Barrett. We then took the lead after Kyrel Brown collected a cross field kick from Tom Loomes to score in the corner. However poor defending from Cryptians allowed Swindon to hit back with two tries of their own. FT: 26-24 L. After a disappointing loss, we head down to Bristol next week to face Cleeve RFC.
