The next round of the Junior Vase has been drawn and we will host Tor RFC on 2nd February at the Memorial Ground.

After beating Brockworth 0-19 in the GRFU Level 9 County Cup final back on 10th November, the draw for the next stage of the Junior Vase has been a long time coming!

Somerset don't hold a cup competition for qualifying purposes but have nominated Tor by virtue of being top of Somerset 1.

This match on the 2nd February represents the South West Counties semi-final and the winners will go on to play whoever comes out on top of Dartmouth v Newquay Hornets in the South West Counties final on 23rd February.

The South West Divisional final follows on 16th March against one of Lytchett Minster, Bershire Shire Hall, Phoenix or Chipping Norton (the teams in the Southern Counties semi-finals).

After that, the National semi-final takes place on 20th April against the winners of the London & South East Division, followed by the final at Twickenham versus either the North or the Midlands Division champions.

Veterans of the last-16 clash against Wasps FC at the Memorial Ground in the 2001-02 season (which we lost 7-15 despite Marc Blackford scoring and converting the only try of the game) will remember the excitement that generated in the club.

Tor stand in the way of our current First XV getting to the equivalent stage of the competition this season and the high-flying Glastonbury side will represent a difficult challenge. They sit on top of Somerset 1 with 12 wins from 12 games, so every ounce of support we can get on 2nd February at 1400pm will help the First XV enormously in their efforts to progress.
