As the the lads prepare for the Final this weekend, the coaching staff reflect on the achievements of this season.
"The resilience and fight this group have shown on the last two seasons has been fantastic, so to finish it off with a trip to Kingsholm is special.
We have had a long season with some very close fought games, we expect this to be much of the same against a strong well drilled side.
The group as a whole have been hard working and have bought into everything Josh and I have pushed this season, we look forward to expressing our style of rugby this weekend.
An exciting end to the season in a cup final, nothing more than the group deserves off the back of some hard work this season and through the cup run" - James Allen - Forwards Coach.
“After the woes of last season, this a great opportunity for the club that the lads have all worked hard for this season. We're very lucky that we’ve have got a tight-knit group of players and any successes will be down to entire contribution of everyone this year.
A win would certainly be a fitting part of our centenary celebrations. We cannot wait to step out at Kingsholm and give it our all.” Josh Flounders - Head Coach.
"Having played in a final 32 years ago against Matson at Kingsholm, I am proud and looking forward to watching my son take the field against Matson this year. Having the next generation of Vidgens there, in my Grandson Rory, will make it extra special.
Matson United are an incredible team and always step it up for the Combination Cup and will be formidable opponents. But this young Old Cryptians side are developing well and we are confident in our abilities. Last season was a tough one for us, but we have improved massively this season, and so much credit has to be given to this incredible group of players.
Finally, big thanks to our coaches James Allen and Josh Flounders who have done a great job over the last two seasons during some difficult times, they deserve this opportunity too." Paul Vidgen - Director of Rugby.
To reflect the the words of the coaching staff, we, your loyal fans, followers, WAGs and Old Farts wish you all the best for Sunday and no matter what, are proud of how far you have come.
