Down the 417 to Cirencester town
After a hard-fought win against St Brendan’s last week we continue with league action this Saturday with a tough trip to Cirencester. They along with Dursley, Fairford and Gloucester Old Boys are our remaining league opponents this year to take us to the halfway point in the league.
But also, the challenges keep on coming it seems with the announcement of the next round of the Wadworth Junior Vase Semi Final which takes place at 7pm on Wednesday 4th December (TBC) at home against our old friends Gordon League. #businessasusual
Cirencester though, finished just behind us in the league last year and the former Gloucester stalwart ‘Andy Deacon’ is their director of rugby. He will be keen to improve that position this time round, and after Crypts lost this fixture last year by a hefty 41-6, he will be in confident mood. However, this season they’ve had a mixed start to proceedings and are sitting 5th in the table with four wins from seven
Crypt coaches McMahon and Worrall will also be confident of a win this time due to our perfect record so far. Not to mention our success in the home win against them last April. But all accept that this trip away will be one of the biggest tests so far this season.
Whilst the rain is expected to hold off the forecast is still unsettled, but it’s almost certain that the ground will be wet and soft underneath which suggests we can expect a tight forward battle. Either way it should be a fascinating match.
Support as always is important, especially away, so it’ll be great to see you there. So, if you want a lift down or can offer one, make it known on one of the club platforms to ensure we get as many there as possible. If you can’t make it, the seconds are in action at home against Old Pats and they name a strong side; many of which will be pushing for a first team place.
See you Saturday.
